Louisville Latinx Educational Outreach Project
Keep Adult Education At JCPS
JCPS plans to discontinue the Adult Learning Program because they assumed it could not meet the expected performance goals required by the state. the contract that has again being awarded for three-year funding to begin July 1, 2022 has been amended. The district plans are to return funds and continuing services for an interim period of six months while Kentucky Adult Education established a new provider.

To Whom It May Concern:
I'm reaching out today because the district has decided to not renew the Adult Education contract and it is the wrong decision. As an advocate of education in our community you know the significance of the services Adult Education provides and why being part of the school district is an important part of the work we do.
This last year (July 1, 2021-June 20,2022) alone JCPS Adult Education served over 1400 Adult Learners and in the past 4 days has re-enrolled 240 students for the new year. These students turn to Adult Education to support them on their path to a GED or to improve their English Language Skills.
Research shows that the greatest indicator of a child’s educational success is the educational
attainment of his or her mother. Many of our participants are parents to the district’s K12 students. JCPS Adult Education both increases the educational skills of participants and empowers families to become engaged in their children’s schools through increased English language acquisition. Unfortunately, the district is making a decision to end Adult Education at JCPS which will mean a significant disruption in student learning and services in our community.
As a partner and advocate of the Adult Education Team I would like you to know that this
decision was made with no regard to the impact it will have on students and our
community and I do not agree.
JCPS has provided Adult Education Services to the community since the 1960's, over 60 years, and we are ready to provide the service for 60 more. Thank you for taking the time to consider my concerns.

I'm reaching out today because the district has decided to not renew the Adult Education contract and it is the wrong decision. I am a current student with JCPS Adult Education and parent to a JCPS student. I value this service for myself and my child. (Write one sentence here about how classes are helping you engage with your child’s school. This could be helping your child with his/her homework, being able to more easily communicate with your child’s teacher, etc.)
As a student of JCPS Adult Education, I would like you to know that this decision was made with no regard to the impact it will have on students like myself and our community and I implore you to reconsider.
